More than 300 students and parents came together at GNITS, Shaikpet, Hyderabad, on 5 February 2023 for Safar 1.0, a career conclave organised by Sri Amogha Junior College with Global Shapers Community, Hyderabad Hub. Four panel discussions brought people from different fields into conversation with families considering future study and work.

Safar was designed around meeting people and exploring possibilities. Its programme gave students and parents access to a range of professional perspectives, with time for questions and conversations. Bringing families into the same setting made career exploration a shared discussion.

The engineering and technology panel brought together Jignesh Talasila, Bala Peddigari and Dr. CVS Kiran, with Rama Krishna Boddu as moderator. It was one part of a programme that placed technical fields alongside business, healthcare and creative work.

Business, management and law were represented by Satish Pendyala and Vijay Nandula in a discussion moderated by Antara Choudhary. Including these areas gave students space to consider professional directions beyond the science and engineering routes often prominent in discussions about life after school.

The healthcare and biosciences discussion featured Dr. Muralidhar Panchagnula, Sunil Maddikatla and Dr. Soma Chakrabarty, moderated by Dr. Veeresh. The programme’s grouping of healthcare with biosciences provided a wider frame in which students could explore interests related to biology and health.

Design, architecture and film formed the fourth panel, with Surya Vangula, Dr. Sharmila Nagraj Nandula and Akshay Kumar Dattla. Nikhilesh Bharadwaj, Co-founder and Director of Sri Amogha Junior College, moderated the discussion. Placing these fields within the same conclave gave creative work a visible place in the range of possibilities presented to families.

Across the four panels, the purpose was exploration: meeting people with experience, hearing different perspectives and finding useful questions to take into a decision. A career conversation can begin with interest in a field and develop through a closer understanding of the study, work and choices associated with it.

Photographs from the event record student hosts, speakers, students and parents, as well as questions from the audience and conversations beyond the stage. Recordings of all four discussions remain available through the college’s Safar page.

Safar is part of SAJC’s broader approach to student development and career guidance. The college brings together academic study, exposure to different fields and conversations with students and parents to help young people examine their options. The 2023 discussions remain a resource for exploration; families should check current course and entrance requirements when making an application.
