Five Reasons for Career Counselling After Class 10
Sri Amogha Junior College · Updated 31 October 2026

Career counselling after Class 10 gives students and parents time to compare subjects, explore future courses and agree on a practical next step. Bring the student’s interests and questions into the discussion, along with marks and the family’s expectations.
At Sri Amogha Junior College in S R Nagar, Hyderabad, campus visitors can arrange a free career test and career counselling. Here are five useful reasons to have that conversation before choosing an Intermediate group.
A question for students and parents
SAJC’s short career-guidance video raises a familiar question: how do a parent’s preference and a student’s preference come together? Watch it as a starting point for your own discussion.

1. Understand the student behind the marks
Marks show part of a student’s experience. A conversation can also uncover the subjects they enjoy, the problems they like solving and the areas in which they need support.
Ask for examples. Does the student enjoy working through a mathematical problem, explaining a biological process, understanding a business or discussing a public issue? These examples make a subject-choice discussion more useful than a general label such as “good at science”.
2. Check what future courses actually require
Compare MPC, BiPC, MEC and CEC through the subjects the student will study. Then explore a few possible degree courses and their official entry requirements.
Some courses require specific Class 12 subjects. Others have entrance tests, interviews or portfolios. Write down the requirements for a small shortlist and check the rules for the student’s application year. Our MEC vs CEC guide illustrates why checking Mathematics requirements early can matter.
3. Give the student and parent a shared starting point
A parent may be thinking about opportunities, cost and security. A student may be thinking about interests, friends and whether they can manage the work. Both need room to explain their concerns.
Prepare one question each before the visit. A counsellor can help the family compare options, identify information that is missing and agree on what to investigate next. Students should have an active part in the choice they will live with each day.
4. Compare a realistic college day
Discuss the timetable, travel, practice, activities and time at home. For a student considering an entrance examination, ask how preparation fits alongside board subjects and other responsibilities.
Our guide to integrated Intermediate and separate coaching gives families practical questions about study plans, feedback and the daily journey. Ask the college for current programme details and written fee information during your visit.
5. Turn uncertainty into a clear next step
A useful counselling conversation can end with a short action list: explore two subject groups, read the requirements for three degrees, meet a teacher or try the journey to campus.
A career test can help bring interests and questions into focus. Discuss the findings with the student and connect them to their experiences and possible study choices. Allow space for interests to grow as the student learns more.
