Difference Between CUET and IPMAT: Choosing a Route After Intermediate

Sri Amogha Junior College · Updated 21 October 2026

CUET-UG and IPM aptitude tests serve different undergraduate admission routes. Begin with the degrees and institutions you want to investigate, then identify the examination and eligibility required for each. The choice is clearer when it follows a course shortlist.

The main difference

Question CUET-UG IPM aptitude tests
What is the route for? Undergraduate programmes at participating universities. Integrated management programmes at the institutions using the relevant test.
Where should I start? The NTA information bulletin and the chosen university’s programme requirements. The chosen institution’s admission policy and aptitude-test information.
What needs checking? Eligibility, required test subjects and the university’s admission process. Academic eligibility, test format, selection stages and programme conditions.
What follows a score? The applicable university’s admission process. The institution’s further selection and admission stages.

Understanding CUET-UG

The National Testing Agency conducts the Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate programmes. Scores are used by participating universities. The degree you want to pursue determines which institution and programme requirements you need to investigate. Use NTA’s official CUET-UG information and check the university’s own admission instructions.

Build a shortlist of courses before selecting examination subjects. Write down the subject requirements and application steps for each university. A common examination does not make every university’s eligibility or admission procedure identical.

Understanding IPMAT and institution-specific tests

IPMAT is a familiar name in discussions of integrated management admissions, but students should identify the exact institution and test. IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak publish their own admission information. An examination name alone should not be treated as one application accepted automatically by every IIM.

IIM Indore’s IPM admission information includes an aptitude test and a personal-interview stage. Its current notices refer to Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. Read the policy for the year you apply, including eligibility and the full selection process. IIM Indore IPM admissions.

For Rohtak, use the institution’s own programme and admission guidance. Confirm its requirements separately rather than transferring another institution’s test pattern or rules. IIM Rohtak IPM admissions.

Questions that help you choose

Compare the work involved with your present strengths and willingness to practise. Avoid choosing only because one examination is described as easier or one institution has a more familiar name.

Connect preparation with your Intermediate subjects

For commerce students, MEC and CEC provide different subject combinations. Consider whether mathematics is useful or required for the courses on your shortlist. The presence of quantitative questions in an aptitude test and a degree’s school-subject eligibility are separate matters; check both.

SAJC’s Classic Commerce Program combines Intermediate learning with career counselling, time management and critical thinking. Separate CUET or IPMAT coaching is not a confirmed inclusion. Discuss the current programme scope with the college and use official institutions for final admission requirements.
